I ran the numbers on this week's launch calendar, and the picture is grim. Multiple tokens from earlier raise cycles are staring down cliff unlocks this month, while one presale — Panda AI's "Golden Presale," per a GlobeNewswire announcement — reportedly keeps climbing past the ten-million mark. Retail is being asked to chase a shiny presale while the tokens they already hold are about to get diluted into dust.
Follow the unlock math
When I map circulating supply against the incoming cliff, most of these projects are looking at double-digit percentage expansions to float overnight. The Block reported that Pump.fun's graduation rate jumped to 6.7% after it rolled out BOOST — roughly 8x the June average — because BOOST deploys a slice of migration liquidity into automatic market buys and burns the moment a token graduates. That is the cleanest case I've seen lately of a platform engineering post-launch price action instead of just dumping tokens on the order book.
But BOOST only fires on graduation. It does nothing for tokens that already graduated and now face a vesting cliff. Every presale buyer who skipped the FDV math is about to discover what dilution feels like when insider tranches unlock alongside their position.
Locked liquidity doesn't mean a damn thing anymore
Here is the part that should terrify anyone clicking that "liquidity locked" badge on a token screener. Crypto News dug into why that checkbox stopped being a safety signal. The lock still prevents the classic rug — the team can't drain the pool. Fine. But on modern launchpads, the very mechanism that locks the liquidity also routes a fee share back to the deployer, forever. The protection is real; the gap between what the badge implies and what the contract actually does is where retail gets harvested.
The piece walks through the mechanics: LP tokens go into a time-locked contract, trading continues normally, and vesting is a separate beast entirely. A project can lock liquidity and still vest the team's own supply into a dump. Anyone treating the lock as a green light without reading the fee routing and the cliff schedule is underwriting the attacker.
What I'm watching this week
Two things on my desk. First, whether Panda AI's Golden Presale — described as a multi-stage sale for an "AI-powered blockchain ecosystem," per GlobeNewswire — actually delivers the vesting terms, or whether retail is being herded into a structure that pays early backers in float while latecomers fund the team. The presale headline is appealing until you price the FDV against the claimed roadmap.
Second, the derivatives tape. When token unlocks land and spot liquidity is thin, leverage does the cleanup. Longs get liquidated first whenever forced supply hits the book — futures liquidations on crypto derivatives routinely cross ninety-nine million in a single hour under those conditions. If you are not sizing for that, you are the exit liquidity.
I'm not telling you to fade the presale. I'm telling you to read the cliff and the fee routing before you click buy. The marketing team already wrote the thread; the contract audit hasn't lied to you yet.
