Uniswap Launches Token Discovery Tab: A Critical Look at the New Feature
Per Crypto Economy and Coinfomania, Uniswap just rolled out a "Launches" tab inside its web app, positioned as a discovery surface for newly listed tokens.

Convenient headline. Noticeably fewer details in the body.
I'm filing this one as "wait and see," because every "discovery" tab I've tracked since the last cycle has eventually turned into a billboard for whoever paid hardest. Let me walk through what's confirmed, what's missing, and where retail gets clipped.
What the announcement actually says
The snippets confirm a dedicated tab inside Uniswap's web interface aimed at surfacing new tokens. Coinfomania frames it as a discovery enhancement. That's roughly the entire verifiable surface area right now — the published coverage I can see doesn't yet spell out the curation logic, the ranking mechanics, or whether project teams pay for placement.
The marketing copy is doing all the work. The contract layer has yet to be examined. That's always where the trap lives.
What I'm checking before I touch anything
- Curation model. Algorithmic, editorial, pay-to-play, or some god-awful hybrid? The answer decides whether this is a feed or a billboard with a Uniswap logo on it.
- Vesting and unlock schedule per listing. If the tab surfaces a token with a cliff in two weeks and an FDV built on paper supply, the discovery just became a trapdoor with better lighting.
- LP depth on day one. A new pair with $100K in liquidity and a 30% sell impact isn't a launch — it's a thin book dressed up as a marketplace.
- Audit posture, specifically. Not "audited" generically — who ran the audit, what scope, and whether the report covers the token contract or only the AMM hooks. There's a meaningful difference, and most marketing copy doesn't bother.
Pull those four threads before clicking anything inside the new tab. The tab will still be there tomorrow. The early entry usually isn't a gift — it's a tax on the next holder.
The launchpad churn this sits inside
Same news cycle, two adjacent moves worth noting. Cryptonews.net reports Binance Alpha added MARS COIN to its early-stage platform. OpenPR.com notes Pepe Nation ($PNATION) advanced to stage 2 of its presale, pitching an AI-powered ecosystem for payments and gaming, with a roadmap that includes a dedicated launchpad for meme creators.
Three launch surfaces in one week. The market isn't consolidating — it's fragmenting. Every new "discover me" tab is one more door that opens directly onto a thin book, and the door matters less than what you read after you walk through it.
I'd prefer every announcement in this space get stripped to one line — FDV, cliff, unlock cadence, audit name, LP floor. Anything past that is decoration, and decoration is what gets rugged. A record-shattering opening weekend doesn't tell you anything about whether the film actually holds up; Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey just pulled $264 million globally on debut and the real verdict is still ahead of it. Same rule applies to a token chart — the opening print is marketing, the vesting calendar is the movie.
