Pump.fun Revenue Surge: Why a Meme Launchpad Now Outperforms Major DeFi Protocols

According to Pluang's latest revenue tracker, the Pump.fun memecoin launchpad has climbed to the third-highest revenue spot in all of crypto, pulling in roughly $12 million weekly — sitting only behind Tether and Circle. Let that sink in for a second.

Pump.fun Revenue Surge: Why a Meme Launchpad Now Outperforms Major DeFi Protocols

Pump.fun Now Prints $12M a Week. So What?

A platform whose entire product is letting people launch joke tokens with a ticker, a picture, and a prayer is now generating more revenue than most mid-cap L1s. That is not a flex for the bulls. That is a red flag for anyone who thinks this market is healthy.

Follow the Fee

I pulled the numbers apart, because that's what veterans do. Pump.fun runs on a bonding curve model: every buy pushes the price up, every sell pushes it down, and the protocol skims a cut on each transaction. When you generate $12M a week in revenue, you're processing volume that is several multiples of that figure. This isn't a launchpad anymore — it's a high-frequency trading venue dressed up as a meme factory.

The platform also takes a slice when tokens "graduate" to a Raydium pool, locking in additional fees on top of the bonding-curve skim. Two revenue taps on the same trade. Whoever designed that fee structure understood extraction better than most "serious" DeFi protocols I've reviewed.

What's Actually Being Sold

Here's where my optimism ends. $12M in weekly revenue means retail is pouring capital into assets with no cash flow, no roadmap enforcement, and no vesting schedule — because you can't vest a meme. There's no treasury discipline. No team unlock cliff to track. No governance proposal to dissect. Just a bonding curve and a community tab run by whoever holds the most tokens at the moment of graduation.

Compare that to the projects I've spent years tearing apart on this site — the ones with FDVs in the billions, insider rounds at 0.02, and cliffs timed for the next bear cycle. At least those had a structure to analyze. Pump.fun's "structure" is a flat fee on chaos.

What I'm Watching Next

Two things matter from here. First: does this revenue hold through a sentiment cooldown, or is it purely a function of a hot meta cycle? Bonding-curve revenue collapses fast when volume dries up, and $12M a week can become $1.2M in a fortnight. Second: watch the graduation rate — how many tokens actually make it to a real liquidity pool versus how many rug, fade, or sit dead. The ratio between those two numbers tells you whether this is a launchpad or a casino with a UI.

If you're trading on Pump.fun right now, run the same math I do: size your position as if the bonding curve will revert to zero, because for the vast majority of these tokens, it will.
